3.8 Flash Cyber is the specialist. On CyberGym, the standard vulnerability discovery benchmark, it surpasses both 3.5 Flash Cyber and significantly larger frontier models. On CWE-Bench (Collinear's patching benchmark), it hits 47.2% pass@1 — nearly matching a leading frontier model at 47.8%, but at dramatically lower cost. Google's internal benchmark across 20 programming languages shows a success rate exceeding 70%.
The secret sauce: the model works harder. On complex tasks, 3.8 Flash executes extra reasoning steps and calls tools iteratively. Developers can dial effort levels up or down to trade compute for performance.
