GitHub Copilot App Customize Tab Is GA

What shipped? The GitHub Copilot App's Customize tab is now generally available, giving teams a central surface to discover and install extensions for their Copilot agents.

What changed? The Customize tab surfaces MCP servers, plugins, skills, and canvases — all the integrations that make Copilot useful beyond basic code completion. A Featured view brings selected customizations into one place so you don't need to know which MCP server or plugin you want upfront. You can also browse dedicated sections per type. Featured canvases help move from understanding work to acting on it: triage issues, prioritize backlogs, assign follow-ups, or hand work to Copilot to investigate and implement.

Why a builder cares? Extensibility is the moat for coding agents. The Customize tab is GitHub's answer to "discoverability" — the same problem VS Code solved with the marketplace but for agent capabilities. If you build MCP servers or Copilot extensions, this is the distribution channel that just opened up.
